Piggy Banks!

So today I went on an early "spring clean" and did a complete sweep of my house. I actually hate cleaning with a passion, unless I can crank music and be left alone to do my things for however long it takes. Today though, my kids were so great and let me get most of it done!

They have actually been fantastic little beasts lately, helping me with laundry, taking dishes to the sink, and cleaning up their toys when I ask them to. They have been doing it all without complaint, even eager to help out. So, I decided that you are never to young to earn some money and learn the value of working for what you want.

The kids will now receive $0.25 for each 'chore' they complete.
We created little piggy banks for them to keep their quarters in and once they reach $5.00 we will go to the dollar store or Wal-Mart, and let the babies pick out and buy something.

The look on their proud little faces will make it more then worth it. :)

The Ones We Love

This past year has brought about many good and one very awful changes to mine and my children's life.
I found out last February 2013 that my beautiful amazing mother had Cancer, and I said 'had' because she passed away on December 29th, 2013 at 6:45pm. That night, my heart broke and I felt a pain that I can never truly explain. A piece of me had died... Now it is only just under a month later and while I still miss my mom so very much, I feel a sense of peace. I feel like it was only her human body that died and that she is still around, everyday, watching over all of those she loved so dear.

My Moms 58th and last birthday. <3

With my Moms Cancer, I also witnessed the amount of love that my parents have for each other. They have/had the type of love that we all dream about, two souls that found each other in this crazy, mixed up world. Watching that beautiful love at its strongest gave me the courage to finally put an end to the marriage I had. One that didn't consist of a real love, not like that, nor would it ever be.
It will be a year in April since me and my ex have been separated and it has truly been the smartest move I have ever made, for me and for my babies.

Now onto the more positive side!

My kids and I now have our own place and are settled into a good routine and more importantly, we are happy. On top of that, I met someone special, someone who has brought many smiles to my home and been somewhat of an emotional rock for me through all the tough bits.

Anyways, there is a mini update on my life and hopefully, I will be posting again on a much more regular basis. Getting back into the crafts with kids and working on my own artwork much more frequently. :)

Have a wonderful night readers.

Cheers!

Annnd....I'm back!!

Well hello Ladies and Gents, it's been awhile since last we met, but I'm back and ready to get the ball rolling.

My life has taken many twists and turns over the past year or so that I have been away. Many big changes, some good, some sad, but I am now ready to begin anew.

Hope you enjoy a peek into my world!

Cheers,

Halloween Part 2!

Alrighty, so we live in Calgary, AB Canada and it was a very chilly Samhain evening for Trick or Treating!
My little man made it out for a whole 10 mins before his Auntie took him back to the house while I carried on with my lil' Candy Corn Witch. We did the block and then called it quits, to much cold, to much snow and her little witch's hat kept blowing off.
That being said, together they got more then enough candy for a one and two year old and we also had so much left overs...we only had 6 trick or treaters. Le sigh....
Oh well, it was fun all the same and we already look forward to next year! Check out the pics of our chilly evening, as well as the first little winter craft we did to replace some of the Halloween decorations!

T-Rex was a Tiger! Rawr!

Daddy just pulled up! Almost time to Trick or Treat!

Back home with the loot and her rosy red cheeks!

T-Rec checked out the fruit of P's hard work, lol.

Annnnnd then after all the Hallows Eve decorations where cleaned up, we did some snowflakes to hang in the window! We aren't starting to decorate for Yule until December 1st! Here's just a few pics of the craftyness and a bonus pic each of my 2 beautiful babies! :)

Very consentrated!

What is this, Mom??

Some of our snowflakes, the glitter glue had to dry before they were hung!

Handsome T-Rex!!

Pretty Lil'P!

Oh!!! Also, I will have posts to come about my beautiful sleeve! I am getting a half sleeve done for my birthday and I had the opportunity to see the design today for the first time! It is stunning, very pagan and very me! lol. I will be posting pics of progress as I get it done. :)

Halloween Part 1

If you know me in real time, then you know that Halloween is easily my favorite time of the year followed closely by Yule!
This year we held our first Halloween Party and it was a success! Hopefully it will become the annual Halloween party. :)
The kids and I have been doing crafts and getting things ready for All Hallows Eve! My 2 year old is already in love with the holiday, running around singing "Happy Halloween!" and asking for more punkies ( her word for pumpkins, lol). This year my daughter is a Candy Corn Witch for Halloween and my son was R2D2 for the party and will be a warm little tiger for Trick or Treating.
I actually made T-Rexs R2D2 onesie and I was really happy with how it turned out.
Check it all out!

My first try at a pumpkin cake!

I made frames for all the kids at the party :)

Saw this on Pinterest and thought it was a clever idea for a healthier alternative

More to come after Trick or Treating on All Hallows Eve!!! :)

A Seymour Thanksgiving

So this past Monday was the Canadian Thanksgiving and for the first time since we have been together, the hubby and I were able to host both our families over for dinner.

We actually did the Sunday, as that's when the most people were able to make it. We had Dereks sisters family, his parents, my parents and siblings and their family, as well as 2 of our very close family friends over. So in total we had 3 babies/toddlers and 13 adults in our little house, it was cozy to say the least!

With tasty aromas circling the house and good company, no one seemed to mind the smaller socializing quarters and we had a very successful first Thanksgiving Dinner!

Now, on to the food, because lets face it, that's what everyone looks forward to on this holiday!

Our menu consisted of a large Turkey and Ham, cooked to savory perfection by my wonderful husband, mass amounts of mashed potatoes, candied carrots, stuffing, cranberry sauce, black olives and gerkins (little sweet pickles!).

There we go!  Pictures from Thanksgiving are up and then the next few are from the stews  I made tonight with the left over turkey! :)

Thanksgiving Craft and the starting of Halloween!

Ok, so I really am starting to remember to blog more often. I am fairly certain it is mostly for my own peace of mind, as I don't think I have many readers. It's all the same to me, I like to ramble and be a proud Mommy, lol. Also, I'm kind of cheating, eventually I would like to get my blog printed out into a book, total scrapbook cheating! hehe

Annnyways, just a few crafts to share! The kids and I started out doing a Thanksgiving turkey crafts with their hand prints! P helped me finish them as T-Rex decided it was nap time.

Little hand prints

SO proud of her turkey

Checking his turkey out after his nap and stealing my parm cheese while I try and make dinner, lol.

They will be our center pieces at Thanksgiving Dinner! :)

Alright, so there you have it, our turkeys!
Next up, some Halloween fun! We originally had planned to do the yard all scary, but they we ended up switching to more kid friendly.  P doesn't really get scared of anything, she laughs at everything, but my little T-Rex freaked right out at one of the scary Halloween props, hence the change in theme.

These may still get used though, cause they look cool! lol..

Its fantastic what you can make with some cardboard tubes and a hot glue gun! My little bloody candles were originally going to be set near the creepy coffin, I think they may end up in a large pumpkin instead!

Fun Halloween craft!

One night, P really wanted to do some crafting, so I drew out a couple shapes ( the pumpkin and the ghost) and she proceeded to glue to proper colored pom poms on the board! Considering she is only 2, I think she did a pretty good job. After that, Mommy added some words and we painted the background with some glitter paint! Fun fun. :)

As a quick edit, I also wanted to add a few pics of the pumpkin cake I made! It was my first try (so no laughing) but I was also trying to practice marbling a cake. I have a wedding cake to do for 2 dear friends of mine, in December, and I want to do a good job!

Nom nom nom!

Devils Chocolate, mixed with basic white cake and then topped with a homemade cinnamon cream cheese icing! Tasty pumpkin cake. ;)
